about

Honey is the story of relocating to New York City from middle-America and taking a beating while adjusting to a new life in the city. This is an original track by the New York-based, 23-year-old musician Paxton Pennington. Honey was tracked at Closet Studios in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then finished in New York at Sterling Sound by Steve Fallone (John Mayer, The War On Drugs, Tame Impala) A wide range of musical influences can be heard in this song and I'm thrilled for you to have a listen!

lyrics

We were the wide-eyed kids with bigger dreams in our minds
The generation politicians try to bury alive
These lights will lead you into town
Just to steal your crown
Ain’t a soul in this city’s not been beaten down

Won’t you be the headlight to guide me on
Don’t leave me out in these streets on my own

Honey, do you remember having nothing at all?
I’d take you out dancing because we had no place else to go
I said, if you’re going to love me
You have to let me roll
Because I’m not backing down and I’m never going to sell my soul

Another breaking headline just rocked the nation
To keep your eyes locked tight
On their TV stations
But when the corporations sponsor all your local legislation
It’s kind of tough to get ahead if the world’s gone crazy

Won’t you be the headlight to guide me on
Don’t leave me out in these streets on my own

Honey, do you remember having nothing at all?
I’d take you out dancing because we had no place else to go
I said, if you’re going to love me
You have to let me roll
Because I’m not backing down and I’m never going to sell fools gold

Oh
Oh

Honey, do you remember having nothing at all?
I’d take you out dancing because we had no place else to go
I said, if you’re going to love me
You have to let me roll
Because I’m not backing down and I’m never going to sell my soul
